Delay Analysis is not as easy as a wish list

Delay Analysis is not as easy as a wish list

  • When it comes to delay analysis, many contractors think it can be done by their project planner. Also, many project planners assume that it as simple as showing a few dates in a table and some bar-charts!
  • Some who present themselves as experts, assume that they can just do it with adding a few tables and sentences to what the project planner has already prepared?!
  • Some of those who call themselves experts, have limited experience regarding the project’s type. Therefore, they make many obvious mistakes in their analysis?!
  • Some of the experts even cannot even open a schedule in the software?!
  • Many clients reject their contractor delay claims without providing any reasons or even reading it. They think, the contractor has no right to send claims?!

The delay analysis is not capturing some wish listed date in a strange format and assume that the client wishes the same and must approve it.
Delay analysis is a systematic process that requires many skills, knowledge (theoretical and practical) to be able to use contract, schedules, evidence, documents, etc. to identify the delay. Then present it as clearly as possible and convey the message to the reader with minimum room for interpretation.
