Using Individual name in resource pool

Using Individual name in resource pool

Should we add name/ surname of the resource in the resource pool or not?  Or what is the criteria to add or not to, the names in the resource pool?

Normally, during the Engineering phase of Projects because the list of the people who are working in the project is readily available, the planner attempts to add them one by one into the resource pool. This practice does seem to be much better than adding roles and is, also preferred by the PM and management team for they allege that it makes it easier to manage everybody through schedule activities.

Also, some planners add resources with numbering e.g. Civil Engineer 1, Civil Engineer 2, Crew 1, crews, etc. to indicate the number of available resources on the Project.

On certain instances, resources could be added with the individual person’s name whilst on others that should not be the case.! If the planner develops the resource pool incorrectly and adds the name instead of the role or vice versa, then it could create many problems for resource loading, resource management, resource Leveling, etc.
